About the Company
I incorporated Coral Construction here in Charlotte,
NC on October 1981 doing renovations and additions. As the owner of a small construction company I wear all the
hats necessary to keep Coral successful. Richard Underwood joined me in
July of 1999 as we prepared to build our first 10,000 square foot
custom home. Now it is common for Coral to build renovations between
$500,000 to $1,600,000. Although we will renovate an occasional bathroom .
I have kept Coral Construction Inc. small in
order to stay closely involved in the building process that I
love and maintain a personal touch that is a trademark of Coral.
We pride ourselves in CUSTOMER SERVICE. We can
strive for a perfect product, but we can guarantee a quick response to
our customers concerns and interests. And so with a watchful eye
for quality, a respect for budget and a tenacity for schedule, we try
to minimize surprise and make every renovation as pleasurable as
possible.
We request a deposit of $1,000 to prepare a
comprhensive contract for your project. The deposit is applied to the
cost of construction. Your deposit is forfeited if you choose not to
work with Coral Construction.
Coral Construction Inc. is named after my
stepfather, Eben Medlicott's company in the US Virgin Islands were I
grew up.

Growing up I dreaded working on my stepfather's construction sites, but
in 1978 I found a love for carpentry and slowly found paying work for
myself. In 1981 I formed Coral Construction Inc. enjoying working with
my hands and the personal contact with my customers. By 1987 I was
working 2 crews on payroll full time. I spent more time serving my
employees and less time serving my clients. It was time for another
change. I found a great carpentry crew who wanted to work on a
sub-contract basis. Randy is still sub-contracting from me today. As
the scope of my projects grew so did my need for help. Richard
joined my company as a project manager allowing me to take on Custom
Homes which required a full time superintendent.
So now with 2 sons in college and my wife, Karen
Geiger a Leadership Development Consultant, busy with her own business,
I do not for see may structural changes to my business in the near
future.
(For some people
change is a new career, For me is what color will my next F-250 truck
will be. I don't mind change I just do not seek it out.)
